I got up after almost no sleep, and working all night on my Sound project, I feel a bit down not getting my project to work, and walk to the nearest cafe to get breakfast. Just around the corner of Anewal Gallery there is a small cafe, an old woman welcomes my warmly! She speaks no english at all, and i only know a few japanese words, but somehow I manage to order food. It turns out to be a great meal! And my mood is up again, also because the lady is so lovely and trying to talk to me, she keeps on speaking, making me coffee, and even gave me a free ocha tea. She explains how the food is made.. We just had a “great conversation without words” I Use an app on my phone to tell her it was nice to meet her, and that the meal was lovely, I recorded parts of our “conversation” and this gave me a new idea, I will record more of those “Conversations without words” to use for my Installation audio. It’s hard to communicate in Japan only speaking english, but this non-communication communication is also very interesting and beautiful.. Full of energy I start my day! I feel inspired and start working! I made a drawing of her, that i will give to her next time i go there…

Doing an ARTIST IN RESIDENCE // EXHIBITION@ Anewal Gallery Staying @ this beautiful 120 year old Traditional Japanese Machiya House in Kyoto, Japan from 20-6 till 20-7 2014!
Have been busy working on my project: “The Soul of Kyoto”
Trying to capture the city in sound, and use it in my Interactive Sound Installation that will be Exhibited 18-19-20-7-2014 @Anewal.
