京町家AIR15のアーティスト3名が京都の元西陣小学校を会場にトークセッションやワークショップを行います。京都での滞在期間も半分を過ぎ、12月の成果展へ向けそれぞれが作品の創作に取りかかっている時期で、初めての発表の場となります。この2ヶ月、彼女達が手探りで何に出会い、そこから何を感じたのか。アーティストの現在を知る貴重な機会に、是非たくさんの方にお越しいただきたいです。

上京OPEN WEEK「アートを育む場」
上京区を拠点に活動しているアーティストを中心となり、アートに親しむワークショップやパフォーマンスを開催します。また町家で展示経験のある外国人アーティストによるトークセッションも開催。

□トークセッション「外国人アーティストの町家への視線」
町家で展示、パフォーマンス経験のある外国人アーティストと現在京町家アーティスト・イン・レジデンスで上京区の町家に滞在中のオランダ人アーティストによる町家に関するトークセッション。異文化から見た町家を語って戴く事で、町家の新たな魅力を発見します。

□アートワークショップ「Let Go,Get Lo」
オランダのアーティスト姉妹、イティケとチツケヘムクスは常にアートとデザインの境界線を超えたところに挑んでいます。だからこそ上京オープンウィーク期間中に行われるワークショップは通常のイベントではなく、実験的で体験的なものでもあるのです。

[About the talk session and workshop] The three participating artists of Kyoto machiya AIR will hold a talk session and workshop in the Nishijin Elementary School in Kyoto. Now that the first half of their residency has already passed and each of them are working towards their final exhibition in December, this will be the first opportunity for them to present their works. What may they have found during their explorations these last two months? And what do they think about these new findings? We would be glad if lots of people would come and listen to these valuable stories of the three artists.

With ‘A place that cultivates art’ as a theme, the Kamigyo Open Week offers various workshops and performances surrounding the works of artists who are active in Kamigyo area. One of these events will be a talk session where foreign artists who have an experience of exhibiting their works in machiya will be interviewed.

□Talk session: During this session, an interview will be held with foreign artists who have an experience of exhibiting in machiya and with the Dutch artists who are currently participating in the Kyoto Machiya AIR Program in Kamigyo. Hearing the stories of these artists from the perspective of a different culture, new charms surrounding machiya may be found.

□Art workshop: ‘Let Go, Get Lo’. The Dutch artists and sisters Iteke and Tjitske Hemkes usually work on the border between art and design. This is why the workshop that they will held during the Kamigyo Open Week will not be a usual workshop, it will be a true experimental experience.
